Biology Department Research Coordinator
Rationale
The increase in the number of faculty doing research and the number of undergraduate students participating in research within the Department requires extensivecoordination of activities related to the research. Specifically, it is essential for our students to have a designated faculty member to support and guide them in achieving research experience in the Department.
Responsibilities
In order to create a vibrant scientific climate and interaction among faculty and students in the Department, the Coordinator will be responsible to develop and sustain: The Biology Research Forum, conference preparation, summer student-student and student-faculty interaction; coordinate implementation of the results of the Research Committee work; coordinate information exchange with the NJCU grant office.
In order to support and guide Biology major students in achieving and acquiring research experience in the Department, the Coordinator will be responsible to develop and organize twice a year the Biology Student Research Orientation; provide research advisement to students; generate and maintain student research database; create and execute student surveys.
